In the early hours of February 27, Russian forces launched drone attacks on civilian and port infrastructure in the Odesa region of Ukraine. The strikes resulted in injuries to two individuals, including a three-and-a-half-year-old girl and a 44-year-old man, both of whom were hospitalized with moderate injuries.
According to local authorities, the attacks caused significant damage to port facilities, including storage tanks and a construction crane, as well as to residential buildings and vehicles. A kindergarten was also destroyed in the assault.
Emergency and municipal services are currently on-site to address the aftermath of the attacks. Law enforcement agencies are documenting what they describe as further war crimes committed by Russian forces against the civilian population in Odesa.
This incident is part of a broader pattern of drone assaults, as Russian military operations on the same night involved nearly 200 drones targeting various locations across Ukraine. Ukrainian air defense systems successfully intercepted the majority of these threats, although 20 drones managed to strike 14 different sites.
In addition to the Odesa attacks, the city of Sumy was targeted, resulting in a fire at a hotel. Approximately 50 people were evacuated by rescue services, who faced a subsequent strike while attempting to extinguish the fire. Fortunately, no personnel were injured, and the fire was contained swiftly.
