Russia Rules Out New Mobilization Amid Sufficient Contract Troops

Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, announced that the country is not considering a new wave of mobilization at this time. He stated that the existing number of contract soldiers is adequate to meet military objectives.

According to Medvedev, there are currently no plans for additional mobilization efforts. He emphasized that the current force of contract servicemen engaged in the conflict in Ukraine is sufficient, negating the need for new conscription campaigns.

Medvedev highlighted that contract soldiers form the backbone of the military forces involved in combat operations. He remarked, “The individuals who have signed contracts for military service are entirely sufficient to accomplish all combat tasks in the ongoing special military operation.”

He also provided statistics on military recruitment, noting that since the beginning of 2026, over 80,000 individuals have signed contracts. In contrast, the previous year saw more than 400,000 contracts signed, indicating a significant increase compared to current figures.

Dmitry Medvedev has confirmed that Russia will not initiate a new mobilization, citing an adequate number of contract soldiers currently serving. He provided statistics indicating a substantial recruitment effort, with over 80,000 contracts signed in 2026 alone.
