Rail Services Suspended in Sumy Region Following Targeted Strikes

Rail services in the Sumy region of Ukraine have been temporarily suspended due to significant damage inflicted on railway infrastructure by targeted strikes. The disruptions are expected to last several days as repair teams assess and address the damage.

According to a statement from Ukrainian Railways, the extent of the destruction necessitates emergency restoration work before services can resume safely. “It will take some time to restore full suburban transport in the Sumy region following the attacks on infrastructure,” the company noted.

On March 16, the following suburban trains will not operate:

  • Train No. 7008 from Trostianets to Smorodine – Lyubotin;
  • Train No. 6261/6262 from Lyubotin to Lebedynska;
  • Train No. 6267 from Lebedynska to Sumy;
  • Train No. 6019 from Sumy to Vorozhba;
  • Train No. 7011 from Lyubotin to Sumy.

Additionally, on March 17, train No. 6012/6011 from Vorozhba to Trostianets-Smorodine will also be suspended.

Railway officials have not provided specific dates for the complete restoration of services, citing the ongoing security situation in the region as a determining factor. Passengers are advised to remain calm, be understanding of the inconveniences, and stay updated through announcements at stations and official online platforms.
