Over 30 Injured in Drone Attack on Lviv, Ukraine

On March 24, a drone attack in Lviv, Ukraine, resulted in injuries to at least 32 individuals, according to Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration. The incident involved multiple drone strikes across the region, prompting immediate responses from local authorities.

Andriy Sadovyi, the mayor of Lviv, reported earlier that 26 people had been injured in the attack. He emphasized that, fortunately, there were no fatalities. The local emergency commission convened to assess the damage and coordinate relief efforts.

Significant damage was reported in the Halytskyi district, where a building at Soborna Square, recognized as a national architectural monument, sustained damage affecting 17 apartments. Additionally, in the Bandera Street area, four buildings were damaged, resulting in 23 shattered windows, with six apartments requiring evacuation. Four families have been temporarily relocated to a hotel.

In the Sykhiv district, 19 apartment buildings were affected, with over 1,300 windows broken. The most severely impacted structure was located at 103 Chervonoi Kalyny Avenue, which suffered two direct hits, affecting four entrances and 136 apartments, leaving over 350 residents without gas and electricity.

Mayor Sadovyi announced that residents could report damages and seek assistance at a mobile administrative center set to operate from 9 AM to 6 PM the following day at 12 Tryliovskyi Street.

The attack also caused damage to public transport, with 30 windows broken and two windshields shattered, leading to preliminary losses estimated at around 650,000 hryvnias. The condition of electronic equipment is still being assessed as authorities continue their on-site response efforts.

Earlier reports from Sadovyi indicated that at least 22 individuals had been injured in the drone strikes. Kozytskyi noted that the architectural monument, the Bernardine Monastery Ensemble, also sustained damage during the attack. In response, Andrii Sybiha, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, announced plans for UNESCO experts to visit Ukraine to evaluate the damage caused by the attacks.

Russian military forces have been conducting regular attacks on Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure using various types of weaponry, including drones, missiles, and multiple rocket launch systems. Ukrainian authorities and international organizations classify these strikes as war crimes, asserting that they are deliberate in nature.

Attacks targeting essential services and healthcare facilities, aimed at depriving civilians of electricity, heat, water supply, communication, and medical assistance, are viewed as indicative of genocidal actions.

The Russian government denies that its military is intentionally targeting civilian infrastructure, despite evidence of attacks on hospitals, schools, and energy facilities.

A drone attack in Lviv on March 24 resulted in over 30 injuries, with significant damage to residential buildings and public infrastructure. Local authorities are coordinating relief efforts as assessments of the damage continue.
