Intensified Combat Operations Reported Ahead of Easter Ceasefire

On April 11, the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported a significant escalation in combat activities, with 101 clashes occurring since the start of the day. This information was disclosed in the evening briefing by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Following 4 PM, there were 469 violations of the ceasefire regime documented. These included 22 assault actions by enemy forces, 153 shelling incidents, 19 strikes from kamikaze drones (specifically the ‘Lancet’ and ‘Molniya’ models), and 275 attacks using FPV drones.

The General Staff detailed that the Russian military conducted a total of 57 airstrikes, dropped 182 guided bombs, deployed 3,928 kamikaze drones, and executed 2,454 shelling operations targeting populated areas and Ukrainian positions.

Four clashes took place in the Northern Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, while five assaults were reported in the Southern Slobozhansky area. Ukrainian defense forces successfully repelled three Russian assaults in the Kupiansk direction, six in the Lyman area, and one in Slovyansk.

Additionally, the report indicated that 19 Russian assaults were thwarted in the Kostiantynivka direction, particularly near Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiyivka, Illinivka, Ivanopillya, Rusynyi Yar, Sofiyivka, and Novopavlivka.

In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy launched 18 attacks, attempting to advance in the regions of Rodynske, Dorožne, Myrnohrad, Udačne, Novomykolaivka, Molodetske, and Novopavlivka. The Russian military also attempted to improve its position in the Oleksandrivka direction four times, with four additional clashes occurring in the Huliaipole area.

In the Dnipro direction, Russian forces executed three unsuccessful assault attempts towards the Antonivskyi Bridge and the Bilohrudyi Island.

The General Staff previously announced adherence to a ceasefire during the Easter period, emphasizing a principle of mirrored response: Ukrainian defense forces must remain prepared to react promptly to any provocations or offensive actions from the aggressor.

President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed Ukraine’s readiness for an Easter ceasefire, coinciding with the observance by Orthodox and Greek-Catholic communities on April 12. He also indicated that Ukraine had submitted a relevant request to the United States.

In a statement from the Kremlin on April 9, President Vladimir Putin declared an ‘Easter ceasefire’ from 4 PM on April 11 until the end of April 12, instructing Russian military forces to halt combat operations across all fronts. However, they were advised to remain vigilant against potential provocations and aggressive actions from the enemy.

Previously, in 2025, Putin had unilaterally announced a ceasefire for one and a half days during Easter. During that period, both sides accused each other of multiple violations, although the intensity of combat operations significantly decreased.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces reported a surge in combat incidents on April 11, with numerous assaults and violations of ceasefire protocols. As both Ukraine and Russia prepare for an Easter ceasefire, the situation remains tense, with military actions intensifying ahead of the holiday.
