Drone Strikes Hit Chemical Plant in Russia’s Perm Region, Causing Fire

In the early hours, drone strikes targeted the “Metafrax” chemical plant in the Perm region of Russia, resulting in a significant fire. This facility is known for producing components used in explosives.

Local residents reported explosions and flames at the plant located in the city of Gubakha. Initial reports indicate that between four to six drone strikes were recorded, prompting the evacuation of workers to safety. Firefighters are currently working to extinguish the blaze.

According to one eyewitness, approximately twenty explosions were heard, with sounds reverberating even in nearby schools where children were sheltered. Additionally, there have been disruptions in mobile internet services across the region.

The governor of the Perm region, Dmitry Mahonin, confirmed the presence of hostile drones in the area. He stated that there were no reported injuries from the attack, all emergency services have been notified, and there is no threat to the local population.

About the “Metafrax” Plant

The “Metafrax” facility in Gubakha is a key asset of the “Metafrax Group” chemical holding. The plant produces a variety of chemical products, including methanol, formaldehyde, organic compound derivatives, synthetic resins, and other substances.

Some of the products manufactured by the plant, such as hexamine, methanol, urotropine, and pentaerythritol, can be utilized as components in the production of explosives and certain military equipment.

A drone attack on the "Metafrax" chemical plant in Russia's Perm region has resulted in a fire but no reported injuries. The facility, which produces materials used in explosives, is under emergency response efforts.
