Drone Strike Disrupts Train Services in Sumy Region

A passenger train in the Sumy region was struck by an enemy drone, prompting immediate changes to the train schedule. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries among passengers or railway staff.

The incident occurred on a train traveling between Smorodine and Vorozhba, where the drone hit the rear locomotive. Emergency protocols were swiftly enacted by the monitoring team of Ukrzaliznytsia, ensuring the timely evacuation of passengers and detachment of the locomotive crew from the damaged vehicle.

As a result of the attack, several suburban train routes have been altered. The train route №6011/6012 from Kyrykivka to Vorozhba has been limited to a stop at 68 km. Additionally, the train №6016 from Vorozhba to Boromlya will not operate today.

Further cancellations have been announced for upcoming days. On March 15, the following trains will not run:

  • №7008 from Trostyanets-Smorodine to Lyubotin;
  • №6261/6262 from Lyubotin to Lebedynska;
  • №6267 from Lebedynska to Sumy;
  • №6019 from Sumy to Vorozhba.

On March 16, the route №6012/6011 from Vorozhba to Trostyanets-Smorodine will also be canceled.

Ukrzaliznytsia is urging the public to remain vigilant, pay attention to announcements at train stations, and follow the instructions of railway personnel to ensure their safety.

A drone strike on a passenger train in Ukraine's Sumy region led to immediate schedule changes, but no injuries were reported. Ukrzaliznytsia has canceled several train services and is advising travelers to stay alert.
