In the early hours of March 25, the Leningrad region of Russia faced a significant drone assault, resulting in a fire at the Ust-Luga port.
The regional governor reported that Russian air defense systems managed to intercept and destroy 33 drones over the area. Emergency responders are currently engaged in efforts to extinguish the blaze at the port.
“Preliminary reports indicate that there are no casualties. Combat operations are ongoing,” stated Governor Drozdenko.
Ust-Luga port, one of Russia’s largest facilities on the Baltic Sea, serves as a crucial hub for the export of Russian petroleum products and is located approximately 1,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
This port holds strategic importance for financing Russia’s military operations.
In 2025, the port handled a cargo volume of 130.5 million tons, facilitating the transport of crude oil, petroleum products, liquid chemicals, ammonia, urea, coal, and mineral fertilizers.
