The Russian occupiers deliberately attack critical substations. Their goal is to deprive Ukraine of atomic generation. Thanks to the coordinated actions of energy and nuclear scientists, a catastrophic scenario can be avoided. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolisnyk on the telethon, the correspondent reports UNN.

When asked whether nuclear power plants reduced electricity production due to the Russian strike and when nuclear power plants can return to their planned level, Kolisnyk answered:

“We can say in this situation that, of course, during the preparation for the winter, the central, local authorities have actually done quite a lot to secure critical infrastructure facilities, key substations, so that the necessary actions have been taken.”

Kolisnyk noted that the IAEA mission made visits to key substations under separate negotiations in order to protect as much as possible those objects that affect the stability of the operation of nuclear power plants from enemy fire, therefore, today there is a set of measures that are systematically taken, understanding that there is a potential shelling.

“We understand that the enemy is deliberately attacking critical substations. Their goal in this case is to deprive us of nuclear generation, which is extremely important for us, and attacks on the critical operation of nuclear power plants, on critical substations, actually pose a threat to radiation safety. The IAEA mission is called in order to establish these clear red lines of preventing such attacks,” said Kolisnyk.
