President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky promised that the quantitative composition of the Ukrainian army would be preserved as possible, he said at a briefing on February 26.

According to the President, Ukraine has no reason to trust Russia, and therefore a strong Ukrainian army will be a guarantee of security for Ukraine in case of ceasefire agreements.

“Let it be there, we do not believe the Russians that they want something peaceful. We come from the principles that we believe in our army, ”the President said.

The Head of State also noted that work on the placement of foreign troops in Ukraine is ongoing.

“I like the eight countries that look at it with the positive. Much depends on what role the US will play in this – the number of countries, personnel, ”Zelensky said.

He added that Ukraine and its partners so far have different visions of the number of peacekeepers and are working on a common position.

In January, Zelensky said that the number of the Ukrainian army was 880 thousand people.

In July 2022 – five months after the start of a full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation – at that time, the Minister of Defense Alexei Reznikov stated that more than a million people in the form were provided by the security and defense sector, in particular, to the Armed Forces of Ukraine were mobilized up to 700,000.
