The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expressed disappointment over Switzerland’s support for the “Chinese-Brazilian consensus” regarding Ukraine and called on all countries that support international law and the UN Charter to avoid participating in such initiatives. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine UNN.

Details

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated that the Ukrainian side is disappointed with the information regarding the Swiss side’s support for the so-called “Sino-Brazilian consensus of 6 points”.

We cannot understand the logic of such a decision. After all, together with the Swiss Confederation, we organized the first global Peace Summit on June 15-16 in Bürgenstock, which was attended by representatives of a hundred countries and international institutions. Our countries continue to actively cooperate on increasing the number of signatories of the final Communiqué of this summit. Switzerland participates in thematic conferences on specific points of the Peace Formula, the purpose of which is to prepare a common peace framework for the restoration of a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace for Ukraine,

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that all ideas, discussions and plans for restoring peace for Ukraine should be based on two principles: “First, there is nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine. Second, these proposals should be based on the UN Charter and include respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within internationally recognized borders”.

The Ministry called the Ukrainian Peace Formula the only way to a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace and stated that there is no need to create additional formats and platforms for discussing ways to achieve peace for Ukraine.

Any initiatives that do not contain a clear reference to the UN charter and do not guarantee the full restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity are unacceptable. Such “peaceful initiatives” only create the illusion of dialogue, while the aggressor continues his criminal actions,

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on the Swiss Confederation and all countries that support international law and the UN Charter to avoid participation in so-called “peace initiatives” that can only complicate the process of achieving a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace for Ukraine.

Those initiatives that do not recognize the fact of Russia’s unprovoked armed aggression against Ukraine, equate the victim and the aggressor, propose de-escalation at the expense of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territories, cannot be supported by Ukraine.

We will remind

Switzerland supported the “peace initiative” of China and Brazil regarding Ukraine, despite the lack of mention of the UN Charter. The country considers the initiative an important alternative to militant speeches at the UN.
