As Yermak told, a young family from Mariupol found themselves in the epicenter of the war at the very beginning of a full-scale invasion.
“Their eldest son was only four years old then. They could not leave the city and had to remain under occupation. A daughter was born in September 2022,” said the head of the OP.
According to him, the father of the family is a soldier of the Armed Forces, so the whole family was in danger. They hid every day to avoid persecution, their struggle for survival lasted more than two years.
“Today (November 23, – ed.) a 6-year-old boy, his two-year-old sister and their parents left the danger behind. They are starting a new page of life,” Yermak stated.
Two parents and their six-month-old son lived in their native village in southern Ukraine when the invasion began. My father immediately went to defend the country in the ranks of the Armed Forces, but a few months later he was captured by Russia, where he was tortured – beaten, electroshocked, forced to sing the Russian national anthem.
“He had no contact with his relatives. The mother stayed at home with her little son. Their village was occupied, and it became increasingly difficult to leave. The mother was forced to hide from the occupiers, fearing for her son’s life every day and praying for her husband,” Yermak said.
When the father was returned from captivity, the family again faced difficulties: the Russians did not release the mother and son from the TOT, they took them to interrogations.
“After numerous attempts, the family managed to reunite. Now they are learning to live together after years of separation and trials. The son, who was told about his father-hero, now has the opportunity to see him next to him,” said the head of the OP.
