Ukraine was able to return nine more children aged 13 to 17 from the territories temporarily occupied by Russia.
Among those returned are two pupils of the Oleshkiv children’s boarding school in the Kherson region, who were deported to Russia by the occupation authorities.
The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, said that some of the children have disabilities and serious illnesses, and before their return they were subjected to numerous relocations. Thanks to the mediation of Qatar, the children were able to return to Ukraine and are currently receiving the necessary assistance for rehabilitation.
Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets noted that the returned children come not only from Kherson, but also from Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Luhansk Oblasts and Crimea. He also told about the children’s personal stories: one of the boys lost his father who defended Ukraine during the war, and some children returned to their relatives, in particular to their grandparents, who can give them a happy childhood in their native land.
Earlier we wrote that the Ombudsman of Ukraine Dmytro Lubinets denied the existence of child exchange agreements with Russia. He emphasized that Qatar acts as an intermediary in the return of illegally deported Ukrainian children.
