  • ‘I’m picking up Ronnie’s breadcrumbs’Jack Lisowski believes he “annoyed ” Ronnie O’Sullivan – by rarely taking his advice.

The UK Snooker Championship quarter-finalist, 33, has became a close friend of the 48-year-old, seven-time Crucible king.

Lisowski has KO’d Mark Selby and Ali Carter at York this month – but O’Sullivan has suggested rivals might fancy playing him because of his fast style.

Asked on Sportsboom if he was irked by that verdict, the Cheltenham cuer replied: “No. It’d kill me if he said he [O’Sullivan] hated playing me.”

Lisowski added: “I feel like he [O’Sullivan] has given me a lot of pointers over the years, and I practice with him.

“I think I’ve annoyed him because I haven’t really ever taken it on board that well.

“But the last couple months I’ve been lucky enough to kind of do exhibitions with him in China.

“Spent a lot of time with him and you just picked up these little breadcrumbs, and I think the hammer’s hitting home now.”

  • Judd claims rivals are playing better than himJudd Trump reckons other players are performing better than him – despite finishing strongly to pip John Higgins 6-5.

Asked if he was feeling more relaxed after grafting his way to the UK Championship quarter-finals, the World No 1 told the BBC: “Not really.

“I’ve not played my best so far.

“But probably when the pressure is on I play my best.

“A lot of players are playing good stuff. I’m not one of them.

    “But I’m still in it.”

  • Ronnie ‘knocks back’ Higgo help!John Higgins has revealed he cheekily offered to become Ronnie O’Sullivan’s coach.

Andy Murray has joined the camp of his former rival Novak Djokovic, leading Higgins to ponder whether he could help the Rocket win an eighth world championship.

He said: “I asked him last night and he knocked me back!

“You would love to be asked in a way. He’s an unbelievable champion. I think I’d have the patience to be a coach. I don’t know if I’d be a coach or a mentor.

“Who knows what the future holds in this game for a lot of us. I’m quite happy dodging about like I am at the moment.”

  • Hendry reckons Rocket will roar back to topSnooker icon Stephen Hendry has backed Ronnie O’Sullivan to bounce back from his recent dip in form by winning at least one of his two next two events.

The 48-year-old was dumped out of the Champion of Champions and UK Championship events earlier than expected. He lost to Xiao Guodong in Bolton before his surprise defeat to Barry Hawkins in the first round at the Barbican in York.

But Hendry is confident he will bounce back, telling The Snooker Club podcast: “At this point in time it’s easy to make predictions, but I think he’ll either win Saudi Arabia or the Masters. He could win both, although that’s a bold prediction.

“He’s got a huge involvement over there with his academy and he’ll be really up for that one. The Masters is his backyard, he’s won eight of those and the crowd love him.

“I think he’ll definitely win one of those events. He could win both of them but I think he’ll win one of them.”
