US presidential candidate Donald Trump said that he advocates a “just peace” for Ukraine. At the same time, he did not explain what agreement on the end of the war between Russia and Ukraine he would consider fair. This is reported by CNN and Foxnews.
To the question of how Trump sees a fair agreement to end the Russian-Ukrainian war, he answered, “it’s too early to say.”
– I have my ideas, and President Zelenskyi definitely has his own ideas. But the world must be fair,” said Donald Trump, to which Zelenskyi replied that this war should not have started at all and we must not forget that it was Russia that invaded Ukraine.
Trump added that “Putin wants this to stop, too. And it’s a good combination. That’s why we want to have a fair deal for everyone.”
The head of the Ukrainian state noted that it is necessary to do everything to put pressure on the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and stop the war. He stressed that Ukraine can stop Russian dictator Vladimir Putin by November. Ukrainian defenders will try to do it on the battlefield, he added.
Volodymyr Zelenskyi also invited the US presidential candidate to visit Ukraine during a joint press conference. Trump said that he will definitely visit Kyiv, but did not specify when exactly he intends to do so.
In addition, after the meeting with Trump, Zelenskyi said that he expects the support of the United States in the peace process. According to him, the USA is the leader in supporting Ukraine and the leading state in the world.
– We really appreciate the support of the United States. We are grateful to the USA and the American people. And of course, we understand that the United States can be the leader of any negotiations. You know, we had a peace summit and we are organizing another one. We count on support, – said Zelensky.
Before the start of the meeting, Zelenskyi explained that he considered it necessary to meet with both candidates for the presidency of the United States, since any of them can occupy a top position, and Ukraine is counting on support even after the elections and should plan this cooperation now.
