The WBC president spoke about the potential match between Usyk and Agit Kabayel

President of the World Boxing Council (WBC) Mauricio Suleiman commented on the situation in the super heavyweight division, where Oleksandr Usyk (24–0, 15 KOs) holds the championship title, while Agit Kabael (26–0, 18 KOs) is the interim belt holder and has the right to claim a fight with the Ukrainian.

“We have the WBC conference in December where we will look at each weight class, evaluate and make a decision on each division.

The WBC has shown great flexibility and leniency, especially in the heavyweight division, to ensure that the most prestigious fights in the division are held. We actively supported the unification of titles, which led to winning the title of absolute champion.

So, Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury, then there was a rematch. For some reason, Daniel Dubois became the IBF champion, but now the Ukrainian has become the absolute champion again. Cabayel is the interim WBC title holder and I think he will defend his title in January.

However, as I said, we are going to consider both the heavyweight category and all others during the conference,” said Suleiman.
