“After analyzing the wallet, I realized that it was really “hacked” by AI. I used the code provided by GPT to write the bot. I didn’t expect that the code the chatbot would give me had a backdoor and would send the private key to the phishing site,” commented the researcher with the nickname Cos.
He emphasized that when working with LLM you need to remember the possibility of being attacked. Now there is a real case of theft of funds from a crypto user.
The victim showed a part of the code where it is necessary to send the private key to the API as recommended by ChatGPT.
Be careful with information from @OpenAI! Today I was trying to write a bump bot for https://t.co/cIAVsMwwFk and asked @ChatGPTapp to help me with the code. I got what I asked but I didn’t expect that chatGPT would recommend me a scam @solana API website. I lost around $2.5k 🧵 pic.twitter.com/HGfGrwo3ir

“Obviously I made a mistake because I was using the main Solana wallet. But when you rush to do many things at once, it’s easy to make a mistake,” he noted.
The scam worked extremely quickly. As soon as r_ocky.eth used the API, he immediately transferred the assets to another wallet. The alleged attacker’s address is home to 5.72 SOL and 141,950 USDC.
Previously, the user lost 4,064 BTC ($238 million) due to a hacker attack.
We will remind, in the first half of the year, criminals stole $1.6 billion in cryptocurrencies, shifting the focus to centralized exchanges, Chainalysis noted.
