In Sumy, eight people were killed and 11 injured as a result of the Russian strike by “Shakhed” on the hospital, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi provided the updated data.

“113 patients were evacuated from the hospital. A rescue operation is underway… Everyone in the world who talks about this war should pay attention to where Russia is hitting. They are at war with hospitals, civilian objects, people’s lives. Only force can force Russia to make peace,” Zelenskyy wrote in a telegram.

Earlier, it was reported that seven people died and 12 were seriously injured.

According to the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, on the morning of September 28, the Russian military made two strikes with “Shakhed” drones on a hospital in Sumy.

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, initially reported six dead, including one policeman.

According to him, after the first strike, the hospital was evacuated, rescuers and police officers arrived, then the Russian military struck a second time.

The Ministry of Health reported that two medical workers were among the injured: a doctor and a nurse who were in the reception department.

“The reception department of the hospital was destroyed, one of the floors and the roof of the building were partially destroyed,” the Ministry of Health said.

The head of Sumy OVA, Volodymyr Artyukh, said that Russian forces carried out three airstrikes on Sumy using Shahed type UAVs. According to him, two hospitals and apartment buildings located nearby were damaged.

The Russian military regularly attacks Ukrainian regions with various types of weapons – attack UAVs, rockets, anti-aircraft missiles, and anti-aircraft missiles.

The leadership of Russia denies that the Russian army during a full-scale war inflicts targeted strikes on the civilian infrastructure of the cities and villages of Ukraine, killing the civilian population and destroying hospitals, schools, kindergartens, energy and water supply facilities.

The Ukrainian authorities and international organizations qualify these strikes as war crimes by the Russian Federation and emphasize that they are purposeful in nature.
