As the department’s press service reported, work has already begun with the lists of possible candidates, in particular, an advisor who helps the ministry has already been chosen.
“In the conditions of a full-scale war, the Supervisory Board of the state energy company must be responsible not only for strategic development, but also for anti-crisis management, timely response to risks and ensuring the safety and sustainability of the company’s work. The renewal of the composition of the board is aimed at strengthening these functions,” the message says.
At the same time, on the instructions of the government, the State Audit Service started a comprehensive audit of “Energoatom” in connection with the facts made public by NABU: the procurement audit must be conducted within 15 working days, the full audit of the company within 90 working days. The materials will be handed over to law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies, and the report will be presented to the government after the completion of the auditors’ work/
The Ministry of Economy emphasized that quick decision-making in the situation with “Energoatom” is important not only for internal stability, but also for Ukraine to fulfill its obligations to the IMF, the World Bank and the EU.
Scandal surrounding “Energoatom” – what is knownOn November 10, NABU and SAP conducted a large-scale operation to expose corruption in the energy sector. Members of the criminal organization created a large-scale corruption scheme to influence strategic state enterprises, in particular JSC NAEK Energoatom.
According to NABU, the main activity of the criminal organization was the systematic obtaining of illegal benefits from the contractors of “Energoatom” in the amount of 10% to 15% of the value of the contracts.
So far, five people have been detained in connection with this case. NABU reported that the criminal organization included “current and former officials of the energy sector, a businessman known in the media, and other persons.”
On November 11, the Cabinet of Ministers prematurely terminated the powers of the Supervisory Board of “Energoatom” after a high-profile scandal in the company. Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko also instructed the State Audit Service to conduct an urgent audit of Energoatom, including procurement.
