Today is a historic day for the Lviv Oblast – the region has been cleansed of religious communities subordinate to the Moscow Patriarchate. Lviv region became the first in Ukraine where there is no longer a single registered religious community of the Russian Orthodox Church!
According to him, before the beginning of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine in 2014, there were 66 religious communities of the Moscow Patriarchate in the region. As of February 24, 2022, there were 54 of these communities. During the full-scale invasion, 27 communities joined the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, and another 27 ceased their activities on their own instructions.
In addition, the head of the Lviv OVA expressed hope that the religious communities of the Moscow Patriarchate in other regions “will not wait for the implementation of the Law of Ukraine “On the Protection of the Constitutional Order in the Field of Activities of Religious Organizations”, but will finally break ties with the structure of bloody Moscow priests.”
