The CPD noted that in the Ukrainian segment of social networks, a large number of posts are spreading, which contain photos with clear signs of generation by artificial intelligence of allegedly Ukrainian military personnel, with calls to congratulate them either on their birthday or on their wedding. There are also similar posts about rescued animals, children or elderly people.
Posts like this are often shared by bots, their goal is to evoke emotion and encourage people to react. In this way, these images receive thousands of interactions from real users, which contributes to the rapid promotion of pages.
These social media pages can be used by Russia in an information war against Ukraine. In particular, pages with AI images attract a large audience that is not overly critical of what they see online and is susceptible to information manipulation. In this way, the enemy gets a platform to promote narratives that are dangerous for Ukraine
Another threat of such posts is that they can be used for fraud, because they often contain malicious links, disguised, for example, as a petition that needs to be signed.
