The Cabinet of Ministers approved a new maritime security plan: what will change for Ukraine

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the implementation plan of the Maritime Security Strategy of Ukraine developed by the Ministry of Defense. The document envisages strengthening the productivity of the security and defense sector of Ukraine, the de-occupation of coastal territories and the restoration of maritime infrastructure, the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umyerov, said. According to Umerov, the adoption of the plan is an important step for strengthening the maritime security of our country.

The purpose of the document is to ensure the fulfillment of tasks and goals defined by the Strategy, which was approved by the National Security Council and put into effect by the Presidential Decree.

As Umerov said, the main tasks of the plan are:

• ​strengthening the capacity of the security and defense sector of Ukraine, the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Maritime Guard of the DPSU to counter aggression and respond to other threats to maritime security;

• ​deoccupation of the temporarily occupied territories of the coast, inland waters and continental shelf of Ukraine;

• ​receiving compensation for the losses caused by the aggressor and restoring the sea and river infrastructure damaged as a result of the war.
