Prehistory:
- In mid-September, it became known that, despite the difficult budget situation, the German government wants to provide an additional 400 million euros for military aid to Ukraine this year.
- Earlier, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius expressed hope that the federal government will allocate additional money for the supply of weapons to Ukraine. These funds are in addition to the 7.5 billion euros already laid down in the German budget for Ukraine this year.
- In the summer, the German media reported that the current budget planning of the German federal government does not provide for additional funds to support Ukraine and additional requests from the German Ministry of Defense for military aid to Ukraine will no longer be approved at the request of the chancellor.
- At the same time, the German government denied intentions to reduce military aid to Ukraine.
