In an interview with Radio NV, the director of the information and consulting company Defense Express, Serhiy Zgurets, told how it was possible to stop the advance of the Russian occupiers in the Pokrovsky direction.
“Now progress on it (Pokrovsky — ed.) direction is stopped. The enemy did not climb to Pokrovsk, but already to the south, realizing that there were reserves in Pokrovsk that are holding back the enemy,” Zgurets said on Radio NV.
He noted that prior to this, the negative effect near Pokrovsk was caused by a number of mistakes and inertia related to ammunition, training, interaction of brigades and, perhaps, not entirely effective work of individual commanders.
What is known about the situation in Pokrovsk
The publication Forbes reported on August 30 that the National Guard transferred an offensive brigade – Kara-Dag from the south to Pokrovsk (15 BrOP) numbering about 2,000 people.
On September 5, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, said that the Ukrainian forces managed to stop the advance of the Russian invaders in the Pokrovsky direction.
On September 6, electricity went out in Pokrovsk as a result of shelling of energy facilities. On September 12, it was reported that the water supply in the city was cut off.
On September 18, the head of Donetsk OVA, Vadym Filashkin, reported that about 16,000 people remain in Pokrovsk, including 177 children.
On September 23, British intelligence reported that the Russians remained approximately 8 km from Pokrovsk.
