Five servicemen of the Volyn border detachment were informed of the suspicion of organizing the illegal departure of men of conscription age abroad.
According to the data investigations thanks to their actions, more than 120 people were able to cross the state border of Ukraine without hindrance and leave for Poland.
It was established that from October 2023 to January 2024, five border guards systematically failed to properly control documents at one of the crossing routes. This created an opportunity for men of military age to illegally leave Ukraine under martial law.
Under the procedural leadership of the Volyn specialized prosecutor’s office in the field of defense of the Western region, they were informed of the suspicion of facilitating the illegal transportation of persons across the state border by an official using his official position and violation of the rules of the border service, which caused grave consequences, committed under martial law.
The prosecutors submitted to the court a request to choose preventive measures for them in the form of detention.
The identification of other persons, probably involved in the illegal scheme, is ongoing, and the version about their possible receipt of illegal benefits is also being verified.
Earlier on the border with Slovakia at the Uzhhorod checkpoint detained a Ukrainian with forged documents. The petitioner tried to prove that he is a Tajik by nationality, with three wives and children waiting at home.
Man drove through on a bicycle 750 kilometers from Mykolaiv to Bukovyna, and he was caught a few hundred meters from the Ukrainian-Romanian border.
