Details: According to Ivan, Romania “must take control” of Petrotel Lukoil – the Romanian company “Lukoil” in order to “guarantee the full implementation of international measures, protect the jobs of 5,000 employees and ensure the stability and security of the national energy system.”

He added that he supports the “resolute” application of American sanctions against Lukoil and does not support postponement of their implementation, which should begin on November 21.

We will remind: US sanctions against the Russian oil companies “Lukoil” and “Rosneft” come into effect on November 21. From this day on, any activity with these companies and their subsidiaries abroad is prohibited.
“Lukoil” has been trying to sell the Petrotel refinery for almost ten years, but so far without success. It provides processing of about 2.4 million tons of oil per year.
Bulgaria is also preparing to take control of the refinery, belonging to “Lukoil” in order to sell it to a new owner and remove this strategic object from sanctions, and also strengthens its protection.
