In particular, he was asked for his opinion on how Ukraine’s proposals regarding the victory plan were received in the United States after the meetings of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi with Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
“How it’s been received, I think we’ll see in the near future. They’ve been taken into consideration. They’ve been considered. The work continues, and in particular in the relationship with the Biden administration and with our other partners. Our proposals, our plan will be considered, in particular, in mid-October at the meeting of the leaders of the Western coalition. There will be a new “Ramstein” conference, but at the level of the leaders, because it is important,” said Fesenko.
The political scientist noted that the work is ongoing and, perhaps, it is even necessary to strengthen this work trend. “Many issues still need to be resolved, not only in terms of military aid, but also in matters of economic aid,” said Fesenko.
As the expert emphasized, during Zelensky’s meetings in Washington and New York, a new step was taken to finalize the $50 billion aid package for Ukraine at the expense of Russian assets. “This is also, by the way, part of the implementation of Zelenskyi’s plan,” said Fesenko. At the same time, the expert believes that Zelensky’s visit to the US this week was the most dramatic during his entire presidency.
“We saw Trump’s roller-coaster test. And we saw how the current election in the United States is such a real political minefield. And it exploded beneath us. But, we must give credit to our president, and our delegation, and our friends in the Republican Party, and not only that, together, working together, they corrected the situation very intensively in less than a day. There was a meeting with Trump, which was planned, but which almost failed,” Fesenko said.
He explained that there are people around Trump who essentially work in the interests of Russia, against a just peace, and they have a certain influence on Trump:
“It manifested itself. It was a period, I would say a pre-infarction state for many. But, it was managed to be corrected, the dialogue with Trump has been resumed.”
At the same time, the expert drew attention to Trump’s statements. “Not just about peace in 24 hours. His traditional phrase. But – about a just peace. I think that Zelensky’s influence was manifested here after this meeting. We must be fair. And secondly, that it will happen at the right time, at the right time, and not in 24 hours,” said Fesenko.
He believes that a step forward was made in the negotiations with Trump, very difficult negotiations. Fesenko added that Kamala Harris and Donald Trump were given the same blueprint for victory. “We don’t know who will win… But we are working and doing everything to preserve partnership relations with the USA even after the presidential elections,” Fesenko noted.
