The First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska met in New York with Queen Silvia of Sweden and Princess Madeleine during the UN General Assembly in New York.
Olena Zelenska spoke about this meeting on social networks. The First Lady of Ukraine noted that she was happy to personally thank the members of the Swedish royal family for their help to Ukraine, because the Queen Silvia World Childhood Foundation, founded 25 years ago, has been helping Ukraine throughout the entire period of the Russian full-scale invasion. In particular, the fund participates in the implementation of alternative (i.e. family) forms of care for those who have lost their families, provides financial support for the mental improvement of Ukrainian children.
“Each year, Queen Silvia sends a personal written or video message to the participants of the Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen. The recent, fourth Summit was devoted to a topic close to her – the safety of children, in particular during armed conflicts, in the family, at school, in cyberspace, in the environment.
The result of the fourth Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen was the announcement of a joint declaration, the purpose of which is to unite efforts to protect children. The document, which Ukraine developed on its basis, our delegation is now presenting to the UN, so that it becomes an effective tool for everyone who wants to effectively protect children. How, for example, the Queen of Sweden does it,” Olena Zelenska shared.
For this meeting, Olena Zelenska chose a dark blue three-piece business suit. She again decorated the lapel of the jacket with a KVITKA brooch from the Ukrainian jewelry brand Guzema Fine Jewelry. The decoration was created based on the works of the famous Ukrainian artist Heorhiy Narbut.
Princess Madeleine wore a heart-shaped brooch in the colors of the Ukrainian flag, and Queen Silvia wore a badge with the flags of Sweden and Ukraine, symbolizing Swedish-Ukrainian friendship.
