The Minister of Foreign Affairs of France, Jean-Noel Barro, said this in an interview with the BBC.According to him, Ukraine can use long-range French missiles on the territory of the Russian Federation “in the logic of self-defense.” At the same time, he did not confirm that French weapons had already been used by Kyiv.
“The principle was established. … Our messages to President Zelensky were well received,” the diplomat said.
At the same time, he emphasized that the Western allies should not introduce any restrictions in support of Ukraine and should not establish “red lines”. At the same time, when asked whether this could mean the participation of French troops in the war, the politician replied that “we do not reject any option”:
“We will support Ukraine as intensively and as much as necessary. Why? Because our security is at stake. Every time the Russian army advances one square kilometer, the threat moves one square kilometer closer to Europe.”
Barro also hinted at inviting Ukraine to NATO.
“We are open to sending an invitation, and therefore in our discussions with friends and allies, friends and allies of Ukraine, we are working to bring them closer to our positions,” the politician said.
