Details: He added that now the Georgian government is covering up its creeping concessions to Russia with promises to avoid the so-called “Ukrainian scenario”, meaning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“Ivanishvili, like Yanukovych then, plays according to the same scheme. Exactly 11 years ago, in November 2013, the Revolution of Dignity began in Ukraine, when Yanukovych announced that he would not sign the Association Agreement with the EU, which caused nationwide protests. Then Ukrainians rose up , not allowing their freedom to be taken away, and their struggle changed the course of history,” Kuleba wrote.

According to him, today’s picture for Georgia is clear – “first freedom is taken away, then they start beating, then prosperity disappears, and then you are absorbed by Russia.”

Kuleba noted that the struggle of Georgians on the streets of Tbilisi today is more than a pro-European or pro-Russian position, it is a struggle for the fundamental right to live freely.

He called on Georgians to fight and not let the authorities steal their future.

Prehistory:

  • On November 28, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Iraklii Kobakhidze, announced a pause in the negotiations on EU accession. According to him, Tbilisi will postpone the start of negotiations with the European Union until the end of 2028, and will join the EU by 2030.
  • Kobakhidze explained this decision as “blackmail” offensive to Georgia by some European politicians and bureaucrats.
  • The Prime Minister’s statement was preceded by the adoption of a tough resolution of the European Parliament, which refers to the non-recognition of the results of the parliamentary elections in Georgia held on October 26.
  • On the night of November 29, special agents of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia violently dispersed a protest in the center of Tbilisi, which began due to the authorities’ decision to suspend European integration.
