“NEW UKRAINE: SECURITY AGREEMENT AND PEACE THROUGH THE EYES OF YOUNG LAWYERS»
On December 4, the UNIAN news agency will host an official presentation of a unique all-Ukrainian competition for law students dedicated to the formation of a new model of security order for Ukraine.
The competition was created in partnership with the Law Institute of Vadym Hetman Kyiv National University of Economics and the National Association of Lawyers of Ukraine, and aims to attract the country’s best young lawyers to develop their own Security Treaty projects for Ukraine.
This is the first law-making initiative of such a scale in Ukraine that combines the academic community, the legal profession and the young generation of lawyers who think in terms of the future architecture of peace.
Presentation participants
The event will be attended by leading scientists, representatives of legal education and bar self-government:
• Dmytro Hryhorovych Lukyanenko — doctor of economics, professor, rector of KNEU named after Vadym Hetman
• Lyudmila Oleksandrivna Kozhura — doctor of legal sciences, professor, director of the Law Institute
• Svitlana Yuriivna Zadereyko — candidate of legal sciences, professor of the Department of Public and International Law
• Vadym Volodymyrovych Krasnyk — head of the Secretariat of the National Association of Lawyers of Ukraine
• Ihor Petrovych Andreev — head of the Youth Committee of NAAU (UNBA NextGen)
• Yuriy Yevhenovich Radzievskyi — head of the Information Committee of NAAU
• Oleksiy Anatoliyovych Shevchuk — head of the Center for Legal Information, Professional Development and Expert Research of the KNEU Law Institute
About the contest
The competition is aimed at the development of:
• law-making and analytical potential of students,
• the ability to model modern international security mechanisms,
• the ability to form strategies for peace and national security of Ukraine in the face of global challenges.
The participants must present an independently developed draft of the Security Treaty for Ukraine — a document that corresponds to the structure and style of international agreements and is based on the norms of international and national law.
Full requirements are defined in the official Regulations on the competition.
The competition lasts from December 1, 2025 to March 1, 2026, and involves the review of works by two independent experts, a round table of finalists and publication of the results.
Prize fund — 350,000 UAH:
• 1st place — 200,000 UAH
• 2nd place — 100,000 UAH
• 3rd place — UAH 50,000
The award ceremony of the winners will take place at the National Association of Lawyers of Ukraine.
The mission of the contest
The organizers aim to create a powerful intellectual platform where young lawyers will be able to offer their visions of the future system of peace and security guarantees.
This is a chance for students to influence the formation of the legal framework of post-war Ukraine and to join the professional discussion about the architecture of the new security model of the state.
