Kira Makonenko: The next Ukrainian boxing champion in boxing will be I will be

After Oleksandr Usik and Daniel Duba’s open training, 17-year-old Ukrainian Kira Makonenko made an exhibition battle.

17-year-old Kharkiv Kira Makonenko, which has a pink panther ring, after Alexander Usik’s open workout, spent an exhibition match in a protective helmet against 32-year-old Judith Hetchbold at Boxpark Wembley.

Despite the tremendous difference in age and experience, Kira looked better in the ring. But given that it was an unofficial battle, after the final gong, the judge initially raised his hand at both athletes. And then, he decided to “correct” and already for the photo stood next to the young Ukrainian and raised her hand.

After that, the Ukrainian woman answered the champion question.

Kira, initially the battle with hatchbold was planned in the undercard of the duel Usik Duba. The obstacle for this was your age?

Yes, we have already undergone full preparation for battle. But then the control body, which was to be sanctioned by the match, really said that the official battle was impossible. I am only 17 years old, and it should be at least 18. Therefore, the idea with an exhibition duel came up. At first we had to carry it without helmets. But at the last moment we were not allowed to go to the ring without them. I had to wear helmets.

The rival was much more experienced than you. Didn’t it stop you?

Yes, Judith spent 27 fights, she is 32 years old. But I did not pay attention to these details. For me, it was an incredible experience. Next will be more.

– B. Do you plan to combine professional and amateur boxing?

Yes. Since the age of 18, professional battles have been allowed in the US and the United Kingdom. In most countries – From the age of 16. In Mexico in general from the age of 13.

Do you stay in London for Usik’s battle?

Of course. I believe that Alexander and Daniel’s duel will be much more interesting than their first battle in 2023. Dubois during this time rose, Usik – In Primma. It is clear that I wish the Ukrainian only victory.

Usik – Dubois is scheduled for Saturday, July 19. Estimated start – 23:30 Kyiv time.
