Suspects have been announced as five Russian military personnel who killed 17 civilians of Buchi in the Kyiv region in the area of ​​Ivan Franko, Maksym Rydzanich and Naberezhnaya streets during the occupation of the city in 2022. During the exhumation, bullets belonging to the weapons of servicemen of the 234th Airborne Assault Regiment of the 76th Division of the Russian Armed Forces were recovered. It is noted that using eyewitness testimony, ballistics data, photo and video materials, the police restored the full picture of the events and identified the specific perpetrators of the murders – servicemen of the 234th Airborne Assault Regiment of the 76th Airborne Assault Division of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, namely: the platoon commander, two senior sergeants, a junior sergeant, a senior soldier and shooter-operator. All five were suspected by police investigators of violating the laws and customs of war related to the deliberate killing of civilians (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of life imprisonment. Some of the materials have already been submitted to the court, the rest are at the final stage of the investigation, the NPU notes.
