The city council noted that this year the tree, which is about 20 years old, will be presented to the city by the couple Yaroslav and Anna Pidvirnyh from the village of Birky, Yavoriv district, Lviv region.
The couple managed to grow a Christmas tree in their own yard. Its height is about 16 meters, and it was planted from a broken sapling that the woman found on the road.
No funds will be allocated from the city budget for the main Christmas tree, and lighting the tree during the holidays is quite economical.
Oleksiy Taraban, head of Lviv’s culture department, noted that the Christmas tree will be decorated with illumination purchased back in 2018, and an anti-tank “hedgehog” will be put on the top, which was made two years ago by the workers of Lviv Electrotrans LLP.
