Details: Sijarto stated that the Russian-Ukrainian war was one of the leading topics on the agenda of the UN General Assembly.
“There is a large majority of countries that are in favor of peace, and Hungary is one of them. But few European countries are part of this group,” Szijjarto said, adding that the countries of the Global South “are tired of paying the price for the war thousands of kilometers away from them.” , and that Western countries, they say, only fuel the war and make decisions that worsen the situation.
Szijjarto said that Hungary will join the initiative that China and Brazil are creating to promote their plan to end the war in Ukraine, and that there are already 15 participating countries in total, including Turkey, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Zambia and Kenya.
“The initiators of the meeting decided to invite three European states there – us, Hungary, France and Switzerland. The message of this meeting is that the resolution of the war in Ukraine cannot be reached on the battlefield. The war in Ukraine can be ended only through negotiations, and the sooner they start, the more lives can be saved, the less the threat of escalation and new destruction will be,” said Peter Sijarto.
He noted that Hungary welcomes the initiative and is ready to participate in its work.
It will be recalled that this is a six-point plan that China and Brazil announced at the end of May 2024.
