“It was hard to even imagine that a war could start these days. I couldn’t believe that this could even happen. Especially with a country that was so peaceful, calm, with such modest and good people. It was hard to fathom. And then – to see how people suffer all this time.
I follow the development of events every day. One of the first things I do in the morning is to watch the news from Ukraine. And the last thing I do before going to bed is to check what is happening in Ukraine. It was very difficult for my wife. Experiencing these moments even at a distance is not easy either.
Of course, this changes a person a lot, because we begin to value more things that we may not have given importance to before. We are far away, but believe me, we have never left Ukraine. We have never stopped worrying about everything that is happening in Ukraine.

We try to help people, we try to be closer to Ukrainians who are in Portugal. We understand that those who left Ukraine do not have an easy life now. And they all dream of returning.
We live with this hope – to see at least some sign that the war may end. For me, Ukraine is my second homeland. I always say that half of my heart is Ukrainian. And, believe me, I have a very strong connection with Ukraine in my heart. I love this country very much,” said the Portuguese.
Russia invaded the territory of Ukraine on a full scale on February 24, 2022. The enemy continues to attack military, industrial and civilian facilities, killing military personnel and civilians.
