Special forces turned on water cannons to push people away from the Georgian Parliament building. Law enforcement officers also used tear gas and pepper spray.
In response to these harsh methods, protesters threw various objects at the police.
Local mass media report on the wounded, their number is being clarified. Currently, the arrests of protesters have begun. Security forces cleared the territory in front of the Parliament of Georgia. Instead, the demonstrators started building barricades and setting fires.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia stated that the action exceeded the limits of the law.
“The action near the parliament exceeded the limits of the norms established by law, the participants of the action threw various objects in the direction of law enforcement officers, as a result of which three employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were injured. The police resorted to measures established by law and used special means.”
The Ministry of Internal Affairs urges every rally participant not to commit illegal actions and to obey the instructions of the law enforcement officers.
