Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak held a meeting with graduates of the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University from different countries who came to Ukraine on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of this institution of higher education.
The following were present at the meeting: the former Prime Minister and at. President of the Comoros Islands Hamad Madi, the first Ambassador of Georgia to Ukraine Valery Chechelashvili, former Minister of Defense and Foreign Affairs of Georgia Hela Bezhuashvili, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Spain and Secretary General of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM Altay Efendiyev, specialist in international law from Peru, director of Latam Center (Gdansk) Arturo Condori Romero, mayor of the Albanian city of Saranda Oltion Chacha, former chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara (Georgia) Levan Varshalomidze.
Andrii Yermak noted that such visits are very important, as representatives of different countries can see and feel with their own eyes what Ukrainians are experiencing today in the conditions of full-scale Russian aggression.
At the same time, he noted that it is much easier for foreigners who studied in Ukraine and lived among Ukrainians to understand our people, their motivation to fight for their freedom, and to convey the truth about the situation in the country to the world.
“Ukraine is a country that seeks peace more than anyone else. And everything that we offer today, including our Peace Formula, is written in the UN Charter,” the head of the President’s Office emphasized.
The participants of the meeting fondly remembered their student years in Ukraine and expressed their gratitude for the education and life experience they had gained. They also noted that Ukraine is a multinational and multicultural country where foreigners feel quite comfortable.
On November 28, the IMV graduates present at the meeting took part in the international forum “Diplomacy Today: Ukraine’s Role in Global Politics” dedicated to the institution’s 80th anniversary. In total, the forum brought together 700 people. Among the participants are Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiga, Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications Mykola Tochytskyi, Minister of Youth and Sports Matviy Bidny, Deputy Heads of the Office of the President Ihor Zhovkva and Olena Kovalska, representatives of diplomatic missions, teachers and students. They discussed current problems and challenges for diplomacy.
