Andriy Yermak, the former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, who left his post after his apartment was searched, told Western media about his intention to go to the front.
The New York Post writes about it.
“I am going to the front… I served Ukraine and was in Kyiv on February 24, 2024 (probably 2022, editor’s note). Maybe we’ll see each other again. Glory to Ukraine,” Yermak emphasized.
He also emphasized that he had been in the capital since February 24, 2022 and was involved in the defense of the country.
Yermak clarified that he does not want to create additional difficulties for President Volodymyr Zelensky, so he does not reveal when and in what way he plans to start front-line service.
Andriy Yermak’s resignation coincided with the preparation of the Ukrainian side for negotiations with the United States regarding the peace plan. According to the Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA, Yermak’s release made it possible to avoid political speculation and preserve public trust.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy highly appreciated Yermak’s patriotic position and noted that his resignation will not affect the representation of Ukraine’s interests in international negotiations. According to the head of state, this step will help calm public sentiment and restore the trust of citizens.
At the same time, the president has already changed the composition of the Ukrainian delegation, which will work on the next stages of the peace plan.
The investigation within the framework of “Operation Midas” lasted more than a year and concerns possible abuses during work with contractors of “Energoatom”. Despite the search, no procedural actions were taken against Yermak after that.
The day before, Andriy Yermak wrote a resignation letter from the post of head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
