Direct speech: “I received very direct information from Donald Trump that he would be on our side, that he would support Ukraine. There were a lot of details that I think he was very interested in hearing directly from me.”

Details: Answering a journalist’s question whether Trump asked him about something, Zelensky said: “Yes, of course, a lot.”

Among the questions that Trump asked him, the president mentioned the following: “What is the situation on the battlefield?”, “How do you see the support from the United States?” and “Why do you think Putin started this invasion?”.

At the same time, according to Zelenskyi, Trump did not raise the issue of his trip to Pennsylvania during the conversation, because of which the speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, called on Zelenskyi to fire the ambassador of Ukraine to the US, Oksana Markarov.

When asked if he had plans to fire Markarov after the request of the speaker of the House of Representatives, Zelensky said: “I am the president of Ukraine and I can discuss our ambassadors only with the speaker of my country. This is the Constitution. I cannot discuss it with Speaker Johnson, with all due respect.” .

What preceded: Trump said after his meeting with Zelensky that he was in favor of a “fair” peace for Ukraine, but refrained from being specific about what kind of agreement to end the war between Russia and Ukraine he would consider to be fair.

Before the talks, Trump praised Zelensky’s handling of an attempt by Democrats in Congress to impeach him and said they had a “great relationship.” However, he immediately said the same thing about his relationship with the ruler of Russia and again expressed confidence that he could quickly stop the war.

At the same time, after meeting with Zelensky, Trump said that if he loses the election, the war in Ukraine will turn into the Third World War.

The Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, published a letter addressed to President Zelensky with ultimatum demands for the release of Ukraine’s ambassador to the US, Oksana Markarova. The Speaker also did not meet with Zelenskyi.
