Details: The decision was made on November 29 Kharkiv Red Factory Court. While reading the verdict, judge Anna Shikhovtsova noted that the court did not see sincere remorse, “Suspilne” reports.
Prosecutors proved that on October 26, 2021, around 8:40 p.m., near the intersection of Gagarin Avenue (now Aerokosmyny) and Odeska Street in Kharkiv, a 16-year-old boy, driving an Infinity Q50, ran a red traffic light. This led to a collision with a Chevrolet Aveo car, the 58-year-old driver of which died on the spot.
After the accident, the 16-year-old driver and three passengers of his car were taken to the hospital with injuries. At the medical facility, he provided incorrect personal data, indicated the wrong residential address, and also tried to leave the hospital premises, but was detained by police officers.
The young man was awaiting the verdict in custody.
It is noted that the boy was previously prosecuted for committing administrative and criminal offenses. In July 2021, the court found him guilty of intentional infliction of moderate bodily harm (Part 1 of Article 122 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and sentenced him to 2 years of imprisonment with 1 year of probation.
Mykola Kharkivskyi can still appeal the verdict in the appeals court.
