Zelensky dismissed Andrei Gnatov from the post of Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Andrei Gnatov from the post of commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, according to February 26 in the Decree of the Head of State.

In January this year, the President reported that the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces and Khortytsa, Major General Andriy Hnatov, was sent to the General Staff for the post of Deputy Chief of Staff.

“His task is a new level of training of operational headquarters and the higher quality of interaction between headquarters and front. We discussed these and some other changes with Alexander Sirsky’s head – at all levels the task is set, ”the President added.

Zelensky decided to change the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuri Sodol to brigade General Andrei Hntov on June 24, 2024. Zelensky did not tell about the reasons for this personnel decision.

Andriy Gnatov is a brigade general, graduated from the Kharkiv Institute of Tank Troops. From 2016 to 2018 he held the position of Chief of Staff of the 36th Separate Marine Corps, and from 2018 to 2021 he was its commander.

During the full -scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine in 2022 he participated in the command of defense of Nikolaev and the liberation of Kherson region.

For his service he was awarded the Medal for Military Service of Ukraine, the Order of Bohdan Khmelnitsky III degree and the cross of combat merit.
