According to the press service of the Australian Defense Department, Ukraine has received most of the 49 tanks provided by Australia, and the rest will be delivered in the coming months.
“The M1A1 Abrams tanks will make a significant contribution to Ukraine’s struggle against the illegal and immoral invasion of Russia. Australia remains adamant in its support of Ukraine and seeks just and long peace, ”said Viceremier-Minister Richard Marles.
This support package, worth about $ 245 million, is part of a $ 1.5 billion assistance ($ 980 million), which Australia has allocated Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion.
According to Reuters, Australia, which is one of Ukraine’s largest notes outside NATO, provides assistance, ammunition and defense equipment since Moscow invaded its neighboring country in February 2022.
Canberra also banned the export of alumina and aluminum ores, including boxens, to Russia and imposed sanctions against about 1000 Russian individuals and legal entities.
