Over the past day, due to Russian shelling and military actions, there were power outages in the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Ivano-Frankivsk, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv regions, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported.

“In the Kyiv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions, as a result of the UAV attack on the territory of the substations, equipment was damaged and a fire broke out, which led to the blackout of household consumers. At present, work to eliminate the consequences of the attack is ongoing, the power supply has been partially restored,” the message reads.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, according to the Ministry of Energy, as a result of shelling of the territory of the substation, an ignition occurred, while the overhead line was turned off, consumers were not cut off.

In the Chernihiv region, as a result of Russian shelling, electricity was cut off for household consumers, a total of 1,484 subscribers.

In the Odesa region, during the air alarm, the overhead line was turned off, while substations and household consumers were cut off, and one of the facilities reduced the load, added the Ministry of Energy, noting that power has already been restored.

The ministry reminded that scheduled power outages in Ukraine are not predicted on September 26.

The Ministry of Energy emphasizes that the significant damage caused by Russia’s massive attacks, in particular one of the largest attacks on the energy industry on August 26, continues to complicate the operation of the energy system. In addition, Russian troops do not stop daily shelling of energy infrastructure facilities.

According to the ministry, since October 2022, Russia has carried out more than a thousand strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities, and this year alone, 9 GW of generating capacity was lost due to strikes.

Last week, the UN mission said that Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure have caused significant damage and could lead to even more devastating consequences as winter approaches.
