The ambassador of Ukraine believes that despite Orban’s propaganda, 97% of Hungarians support Kyiv’s victory in the war

The Ukrainian ambassador in Budapest Fedir Sandor believes that the propaganda of Viktor Orban’s government does not affect the support of Ukraine from the Hungarian society, according to his data, 87% of Hungarians cheer for the victory of Ukraine.

Details: Sandor was reminded of his words from 2023, when he estimated that “73% of Hungarians are rooting for the victory of Ukraine” in the war against Russia.

When asked how many percent of Hungarians cheer for Ukraine’s victory now, after the anti-Ukrainian campaign of Orban’s government, the ambassador answered: “97 percent.”

“Yes, now I say 97 percent. And not only because people love Ukraine, I would rather say that they understand better and better: their comfort, their safety depends on us,” he said.

The diplomat added that Ukraine is currently “fulfilling the wish” of Hungary not to have such a neighbor as Russia.

We will remind: Hungary is set to hold parliamentary elections in April 2026, in which Orbán’s Fidesz party could lose power for the first time in more than 15 years.
