Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, held a meeting with Canadian senators as part of the work of the International Security Forum in Halifax, during which he discussed the provision of arms to Ukraine and the strengthening of sanctions against Russia.
First of all, the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament thanked Canada for its constant support to Ukraine in this difficult time, for the military, financial, humanitarian and political assistance provided, as well as for its leadership in many issues and its active position in the international arena.
Stefanchuk noted that “the situation at the front remains very tense. Ukraine has been heroically resisting Russian aggression for more than 1,000 days and has remained steadfast. At the same time, Russia continues to escalate: on November 21, the enemy launched an intercontinental ballistic missile attack on the city of Dnipro.”
In this regard, he called for “increasing defense support for Ukraine, providing weapons that will deter the aggressor and change the situation at the front.”
Stefanchuk also emphasized the importance of using all the weapons provided to Ukraine in full.
According to him, “special attention was paid to the strengthening of sanctions against Russia.
“The fact that we still find Western components in the missiles and drones that Russia uses against Ukraine indicates the possibility of circumventing sanctions. This requires decisive action by the international community,” Stefanchuk noted.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada added that “we also discussed the importance of the Peace Formula.”

In conclusion, the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament emphasized that Canada’s presidency of the G7 next year is a chance for strong and coordinated joint actions and expressed hope for further solidarity at the parliamentary level and the adoption of legislative initiatives in support of Ukraine.
