Last month, the two countries held talks on missile defense and strategic stability, and in August held artillery and anti-submarine warfare exercises in the Sea of Japan.
As noted Reuters, Russia and China signed an “unrestricted” strategic partnership agreement shortly before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, committing to regular military exercises to practice coordination between their armed forces.
Both countries have expressed “concern” about US President Donald Trump’s plans to build a “golden dome” anti-missile defense system and his stated intention to resume nuclear weapons tests after a hiatus of more than 30 years.
