As noted in the message, as a result of the meeting, the key parameters of the tribunal’s work were agreed upon, in particular regarding its jurisdiction, and a road map was developed, which clearly provided for concrete further steps towards the creation of a special tribunal.
“We have finally made significant progress this year. Ukraine’s position is clear and unambiguous: we cannot and will not compromise on justice,” said Deputy Head of the Office of the President Iryna Mudra.
The coalition also noted the progress in the preparation of the draft bilateral agreement between the Council of Europe and the government of Ukraine on the creation of a special tribunal, its draft statute and the draft Extended Partial Agreement, which defines the terms of support for the tribunal.
“The special tribunal is being created to punish the highest military and political leadership of the aggressor countries for planning, preparing, launching and waging an aggressive war – the most serious international crime,” the OP noted.
