Details: During the ceremony in the building of the European Council in Brussels, Michel said that the leadership of the Eurocouncil was “the honor of his life” and wished his successor success in this position.
Chairing the European Council has been the honor of my life.
I would like to thank everyone at @eucouncil for your dedication and hard work.
Dear António, I wish you all the best.

In his speech, which Košta delivered partly in French, he also thanked his predecessor and emphasized that his goal as the head of the European Council will be to further support the “unity of Europe in diversity”.
He also mentioned the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, which lasted 1,010 days, stressing that peace cannot be achieved at any price.
“Peace cannot mean surrender. Peace should not reward the aggressor. Peace in Ukraine must be fair, it must be long-lasting and based on international law,” Koshtu emphasized.
He added that against this background, the European Union should confirm its reputation as a peaceful project, “becoming stronger, more efficient, more stable and more autonomous in the field of security and defense.”
It will be recalled that the European Parliament at its meeting on November 27 approved the new composition of the European Commission headed by Ursula von der Leyen, formed after the European elections in 2024, which will begin work on December 1.
“EvroPravda” talked in detail about the new president of the European Council in the article Favorite with a lot of comments.
