The Zurich Film Festival has canceled public screenings of the film “Russians at War”, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported on September 26.

“Russia should not be present on the international cultural arena. Likewise, there is no chance for her votes to whitewash war criminals in front of the general public,” the message states.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also called on the organizers of the festival to completely withdraw this film from the documentary competition.

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed outrage at the decision of the Swiss film festival Zurich Film Festival to show this work.

Before that, after the protests, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) decided to stop screenings of the Russian film “Russians at War”.

The film by the Russian director Anastasia Trofimova, dedicated to the participants of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, was presented at the Venice Film Festival on September 6. This caused outrage among Ukrainians and users of social networks from other countries who support Ukraine.

According to the media, Anastasia Trofimova worked for the Russian state media network RT, which is under Western sanctions. In her comments to the film, she stated that she “did not see” the war crimes of the Russian military while in the war zone.
